h20 defensive applicator

Hmm thinking a little about car defensive systems ahem.. It would need a source of water, a delivery system and a method of propulsion.

Ideally it would be roof mountable and be able to swivel for at least 140 degrees. Something with a largish tank and would fire by a trigger pull. propulsion would be by pump, gas, pressure, gravity etc. twin barrels would be nice. So would a perspex screen shield or similar.

So we have 12v in the car
so we can look at windscreen motors, pond pumps, fish tank pumps, drill pumps

Or we could manually pump into store
garden spray units, empty polythene water holders

or gas CO2 probably
any sort we can get water displacement with !

Perspex shield might be tricky, but not impossible.

water tank could be anything pressurised or not, but most likely plastic....

trigger(s) probably best to get prefabricated.

Mixing electrical power and water usually not a good ideal

Not so much a water cannon, more a water base retaliation method..

are we nearly there yet ? yes, slap, ow, cry, whimper

For those who need to know ...

Thats less than half a year now and I still haven't sorted out my wardrobe ...

Pump up the volume, pump up the volume,

Yippee , we got all four speakers working plus the sub !

The loom was a mess but with a bit of time we managed to sort it out. Also strapped the sub across the rear two speakers (without a crossover or amp) and it seems to work. Yes I know my electronic lecturers would be screaming at me about wrongly matched impedance and maxium driver power, but life is a little two short to worry about that ! I will do the math later .. perhaps .. beer first

Will now need to test it somewhere away from the house to see if it work ok even when the car is making very nasty noises.

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

Looks like we have tickets for the trip back, thanks to a tip from Brad (cheers mate).

Flight 3015 departs 30/9/08 22:05 Ciampino (CIA) and arrives London Stanstead (STN) 23:45.

Ryan air were offering flight for €0.02

Err plus €9.98 tax (thanks Mr Brown)
err plus €4.00 boarding
err plus €9.00 baggage
err plus €4.00 French ? handling
err plus €4.00 check in

or €31.00 or about £24.00 Since I was expecting it to be about €90 this is rather a nice surprise.

Hurrah, now we just have to book the ferry there and all the hotels. I always have the feeling I'm just about to book the wrong date, but apparently everyone does.
:)

Working wifi on the road

Just stumbled on the WMWiFirouter package for the Tytn2 (on the left) which allows the tytn to to become a wifi router in adhoc mode to any networked enabled device (like my asus eee). It even supplies its own DHCP server and real time logs, so you can debug the tcp to , 3G or grps connections. Which means if we can get a mobile signal we should be able to get a eee to work anywhere ! So we should be able update the blog on the run with the eee and not just the phones.

For the non techies this is a good thing, now move on there is nothing for you to see here , move on nothing to see :)

aha nice 3dtracking people

Don't know what happened but suddenly the 3dtracking account just had the detail cleared down so its up and working again !!!

Water water everywhere ...

Oh yes, the super soaker bottle shot 2008 is the weapon of choice for those extended skirmishes when you have to shoot every single (insert ak47 quote from that movie) . 20M range and will take any plastic bottle up to 2 litre ones so you never run out of ammo.

Shirts turned up today so we can cross those off too ! Flak jackets not yet arrived and noticed that the helmets say 14 working days to deliver (well they are coming from half way round the planet I guess). so that list looks like...

  • Fire exstinguiser
  • Tool kit
  • Foil Blankets
  • Water pistols & rifles
  • Car paint
  • An inverter (300W or bigger)
  • European lens kit
  • Tow rope
  • TomTom (new maps)
  • Maps ?
  • Trenching tool
  • Working Head Unit !
  • Replacement Battery ?
  • M88 helmets (and goggles)
  • Webbing/molle jacket
  • camo trousers
  • First aid kit

  • One slightly miffing thing, I tried the 3dtracking software on my new phone and have somewhat messed it up. Have contacted the 3dtracking 3d bods but have had no reply yet ... ho hum

    More toys bought

Wickes, that well known car specialist (and DIY merchants) are flogging 1KG ABC powder existinguisers for the Pug so there is another one to cross off, and I think I have just won a flak jacket. It's not the molle one but it will probably do. Also we got the second pair of goggles, which will go nicely with the helmets (when they turn up!!). So what left to go then ?

  • Fire exstinguiser
  • Tool kit
  • Foil Blankets
  • Water pistols & rifles
  • Car paint
  • An inverter (300W or bigger)
  • European lens kit
  • Tow rope

  • Trenching tool
  • Working Head Unit !
  • Replacement Battery ?
  • M88 helmets (and goggles)
  • Webbing/molle jacket
  • camo trousers

  • First aid kit
  • Still need to sort out the rear offside tire which needs air regularly and the spare needs swap on its rim. Also the rear speaker seem to be in a much poorer state of repair so they might not get done, So have removed the crossover too!

Helmets, goggles and crossovers (audio crossovers !)

New stuff ordered, yes the helmets are on their way (and one set of goggles, lost the others on ebay to probably to a solider who hasn't been supplied with the right kit in afganistan oops).

Yes I confess I have been driving the Pug a bit more than I should be. Everyone let you out at juctions and no one wants to get too close, 50MPG, no one keys it etc.. perfect. :)

The head unit works fine with the Ipod but I still haven't wired up the rear speakers and the subwoofer. Being usually worried about damaging the value of a car by mods, I must admit I feel strangely liberated and could easierly spend quite a bit of time (and cash lets not deny it) just tinkering. I need to find a place that sells cheap audio inductors and audio caps too (probably ebay again) to get that sub in the game. Pimp my ride, ha we laugh at your puny make overs ...

    Exciting

    Head unit looks(and sounds) superb.

The fact that Greg seems to be favouring the pug over his HR-V at the moment goes to show what a posh motor we have got our hands on.  I suppose she is a GLX after all :-)
